History
Three generations of wine making at Querciabella, Giuseppe Castiglioni (1926-2003), his son Sebastiano Cossia Castiglioni, and the future of Querciabella, one of Sebastiano's children, Orlando whos only 2 yrs old today. .Agricola Querciabella presently produces four wines from the vineyardsAgricola Querciabella is one of the most lauded Chianti producers, renowned for its Batar Chardonnay/Pinot Blanc blend that has won plaudits from Robert Parker, Hugh Johnson and indeed, my good self. The estate is managed by Sebastiano Castiglioni, son of the founder Guiseppe in 1974 at Greve (when it comprised of just one hectare of vines.) There are now 26-hectares under vine, plus 12-hectares of olive groves, augmented by a further 36-hectares at Maremma. The estate is fully biodynamic, using the philosophy of Rudolph Steiner to maintain an ecological equilibrium in the vineyard.
